An accident in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal, has claimed the life of a 40-year-old single mother.
The incident occurred in a residential area near Soul Liberation Church.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene at 11:49 AM on Thursday, where they discovered the lifeless body of the woman in a yard next to a silver Toyota Avanza.
Paramedics from local medical services and KZN VIP pronounced her dead at the scene.
The vehicle’s occupants, two brothers, provided law enforcement with a statement detailing the events leading to the accident.
They explained that they were driving through the residential area with their vehicle loaded with tables and chairs when a money pouch and speaker began sliding off the dashboard.
The 26-year-old driver reached for the pouch, lost control of the car, and struck the woman sitting in the yard, causing her immediate death.
The victim, a single mother of two young children, had previously lived in Hluhluwe before relocating to Waterloo.
Her children, a boy and a girl, were at school at the time of the incident. No further information has been released regarding her identity.
This event serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the need for caution on the roads, especially in residential areas.
The local community and the victim’s family have been left in mourning, with condolences pouring in from all quarters.
