Kimberley, May 20, 2024 — The Kimberley Magistrates’ Court has denied bail to eight Nigerian nationals facing charges of malicious injury to property, interference with law enforcement, assault, and public violence.

The accused, identified as Onogu Nwaemeka, Kelecho Oken, Ebot Kennedy, Chijioke Steven, Charles Aknaji, Umemba Sophuru, Amajoyi Tochukwu, and Charles Okerie Onyedikashi, were arrested following a violent incident at the Kimberley Police Station.

According to reports, the altercation began when the police detained a fellow Nigerian national. The accused allegedly demanded the immediate release of their countryman, which escalated into a confrontation.
