A recent joint operation conducted in Verulam – KZN resulted in the arrest of ten individuals and the recovery of various illegal items, including firearms, ammunition, stolen property, and illicit substances.
The operation, which took place on Friday afternoon, targeted the Verulam Central Business District, Ottawa, Parkgate, Trenance Park, and surrounding high-risk areas.
Law enforcement agencies, including the South African Police Services (SAPS) Verulam, Metro Police, and Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), carried out the operation for several hours.

The operation involved both uniformed and plainclothes officers.
During the operation, an unlicensed shotgun, an unlicensed revolver with a filed-off serial number, and several live rounds of ammunition were discovered hidden in a ceiling in Trenance Park – KZN.
Additionally, boxes of illicit liquor with fake branding were found in the same area.

In Parkgate – KZN, a female scrap metal dealer was arrested after stolen water meters, fire hydrants, and metal pipes, taken in infrastructure damage cases, were found on her property.
The woman revealed to officers that the business belonged to a foreign national who had been paying drug users to steal water meters from residential properties.
The suspects face various charges, including possession of drugs, possession of dangerous weapons, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
FOUR SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY FOR KIDNAPPING
The joint operation, along with other recent disruptive operations by law enforcement, has significantly reduced crime in the surrounding areas in recent weeks.
This successful operation highlights the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating crime and maintaining public safety in Verulam and its surrounding areas.
