Inanda, KZN – The body of 28-year-old Luzuko Xalakhe, who had been reported missing, was discovered dumped in a drain in Ezimangweni, Inanda, KZN, (Monday). Xalakhe had temporarily relocated to Verulam, KZN, for work-related training.
On Sunday, May 26, 2024, around 14:30, Xalakhe used an E-Hailing service to travel to Verulam CBD for a haircut. When he did not return, his work colleagues grew concerned and contacted the authorities the following morning.
Authorities made several enquiries in the Central Business District and found that Xalakhe was last seen at approximately 15:30 on the corner of George Sewpersad and Ireland Street on the day he went missing. A missing person alert was subsequently circulated on social media.

A member of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) from Inanda contacted the authorities’ Operations Centre early Tuesday morning after viewing the missing persons post.
The individual confirmed that Xalakhe’s body was located in a drain in Ezimangweni. His injuries indicated that he had been tortured and murdered. The motive for the murder remains unknown.
Xalakhe was a resident of New Brighton in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The community mourns his tragic and untimely death, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding this brutal crime.
