In the early hours of this morning, just before 6 AM, ALS Paramedics were called to a severe collision on the M1 Higginson Highway near the Unit 5 offramp in Westcliffe, Chatsworth, South of Durban.
Upon arrival, paramedics found a vehicle extensively damaged, having come to rest on the railway tracks below the highway.
They swiftly made their way down to the vehicle and discovered a single occupant inside.
The occupant, a male believed to be in his twenties, had sustained a gunshot wound to the head, along with injuries from the accident.

Tragically, the injuries proved fatal, and despite the paramedics’ efforts, the man was declared deceased at the scene.
Currently, the circumstances leading to both the shooting and the subsequent accident remain unclear.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) was present at the scene and has commenced an investigation to uncover the events that led to this tragic incident.
