Tragic Saturday Morning Accidents in Durban North
In the early hours of Saturday, Durban North witnessed two tragic accidents resulting in fatalities and multiple injuries.
ALS Paramedics swiftly responded to both incidents, highlighting the importance of road safety.
First Accident: Single Vehicle Crash at Old Mill Way

At approximately 4:15 AM, a single-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Old Mill Way and Northway Road.
The vehicle, which had lost control, collided with a pole. Upon arrival, paramedics conducted a quick assessment and found the driver, a man in his thirties, had suffered fatal injuries.
Despite their best efforts, he was declared deceased at the scene.
Three other passengers sustained various injuries. ALS Paramedics stabilized them before transporting them to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The severity of the injuries varied, but all were in stable condition upon arrival at the hospital.

Second Accident: Multi-Vehicle Collision on M4 North
Shortly before 5 AM, ALS Paramedics were dispatched to another severe accident on the M4 North near Glenashley.
The scene was chaotic, with two vehicles extensively damaged following a high-impact collision.
The paramedics quickly assessed both drivers, the only occupants of the vehicles. Sadly, one of the drivers succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The other driver sustained minor injuries and was treated on-site before being taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
Investigation Underway
The South African Police Service (SAPS) attended both scenes and initiated an investigation to determine the causes of these tragic accidents.
Preliminary reports suggest that speed and wet road conditions may have been contributing factors.
These incidents serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of cautious driving, especially during early morning hours when visibility and road conditions can be challenging. The community is urged to drive safely and adhere to traffic laws to prevent further tragedies.
