On the evening of April 21, 2024, a quiet farm in the Ficksburg District was turned into a scene of horror when two armed assailants opened fire, resulting in the death of an 11-year-old child and injuries to six others.
According to reports, the attack occurred around 21:50 when the gunmen, without any prior interaction, targeted the inhabitants of two separate houses on the farmstead.
Authorities revealed that the suspects initially fled on foot before escaping in an unidentified vehicle parked along the R26 road near the farm.
The sequence of events led to a rapid response from local police and emergency services, who upon arrival, confirmed the child’s death at the scene.
The injured victims, both men and women, were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
As of now, the motive behind the brutal attack remains unclear, leaving the community in shock and seeking answers.
