American Man Claims to Be Connie Chiume’s Husband in Shocking Video Following Memorial Service

A video has surfaced, causing a stir among many, in which an American man claims to be the husband of renowned actress Connie Chiume.

The video emerged following a memorial service held in her honor at the Oasis of Life Family Church in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, on Thursday.

In the video, the man, who identified himself as David Joseph, expressed his grief and concern over the loss of his supposed wife.

According to Joseph, he married Chiume in Louisiana, United States, on August 26, 2021.

However, he claims that Chiume’s family did not allow him to be part of any of the arrangements for her funeral.

Chiume, who passed away at the age of 72, died at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg.

In the emotional video, Joseph, currently residing in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, stated that he intended to offer comfort and support to everyone grieving the loss.

“I have not just lost a wife, but I have also lost my best friend and my angel,” Joseph said.

He continued,

“Our love story, which began in the 80s, is one of the most unique and strong bonds I have ever experienced. It didn’t matter where my wife was in the world; she knew I would always be there. Like all of you, I am deeply hurt. I find solace and peace knowing that my wife loved me and that our love grew stronger with each passing day. My dear Connie, I want you to know that I wish to be with you today, and I will always think of you with a smile on my face. Rest in peace, my love,” Joseph added.

Joseph mentioned that the last time he saw Chiume was at the end of December before she returned to South Africa to work on a film.

His nephew, Dominic, told Independent Online that his uncle was not allowed to be part of the funeral arrangements for his wife.

“Her daughter called him on Monday to inform him of the plans for the week. However, they did not allow him to be part of the arrangements,” Dominic said.

Dominic further explained that his uncle and Connie were very close until her passing. They last spoke on FaceTime two days before she died.

“He tried several times to find out what was happening to my aunt in the hospital. He finally managed to speak with her on FaceTime two days before she passed away. During their conversation, you could tell something was off. I assumed her children were around, and she was reserved,” Dominic added.

When approached for comment, the Chiume family declined to speak on the matter.

In 2022, Joseph was seen attending the Netflix Bridgerton Affair event at the Inanda Polo Club in Sandton with Connie.

Dominic mentioned that his uncle and aunt were planning to relocate to the U.S. as they were happy in their marriage. “It hurts that our family was left out of everything being planned because he spent a lot of time here on holidays, and we had some wonderful moments with him.”

“He was in the process of selling his house in Johannesburg to move and live with us here in the U.S.,” Dominic said.

He also mentioned that his uncle was considering legal action if necessary, but he hoped that the matter could be resolved amicably and peacefully.
