A development has emerged in the investigation of a double murder linked to a bread delivery truck robbery in Delft, Cape Town.

Police have arrested a suspect identified as Martin Mungayi, a Zimbabwean national, in connection with the incident, which was recorded under Delft CAS 352/05/2024.

The incident involved the robbery of a bread delivery truck during which a truck driver and his assistant tragically lost their lives.

Authorities have been diligently pursuing leads, and their efforts have now led to the apprehension of Mungayi.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that Mungayi was attempting to flee to Zimbabwe on a bus when he was intercepted by law enforcement.

The informer provided crucial details, including the bus’s name, its location, and a photo of the suspect, which ultimately led to his arrest.

Further investigations have linked Mungayi to other criminal activities, including two robbery cases registered at the Mfuleni police station.

According to sources, Mungayi is believed to be involved in several robbery cases across the Western Cape province.

A graphic video of the shooting incident went viral on social media, showing the harrowing moments leading up to the murders.

In the video, three individuals can be seen inside the truck counting money before assailants attack and rob them.

Despite the victims’ cooperation and handing over of the money, the suspect shot the driver and his assistant before fleeing the scene.

Tragically, both victims were declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.
