A father and son narrowly avoided injury after an attack during an attempted robbery in the Verulam CBD – KZN today (Friday).
Authorities received numerous reports of rapid gunfire on Wick Street outside the Verulam Market.
Responding officers arrived at the scene at approximately 17:27.

According to reports, the father and son had just left their hardware business and were about to drive away in a grey VW Polo when they were accosted by three armed individuals.
The assailants demanded money, leading to a brief struggle. The robbers fired several shots at the vehicle before fleeing empty-handed in a white Toyota Quantum (registration unknown).
One of the suspects dropped a 9mm pistol while making their escape. see picture,
Although the VW Polo sustained multiple gunshot wounds, both occupants emerged unscathed.
