A dramatic Cash-In-Transit (CIT) robbery unfolded this morning on the N2 highway in Nandi Drive, KwaZulu-Natal, resulting in multiple shots fired and chaos on the roads.
The incident took place during a Crime Prevention Operation conducted by the Verulam SAPS and authorities from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on the north coast of Durban.
At around 05:41, authorities received reports of the CIT robbery in progress and swiftly responded.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that about 20 suspects armed with high-caliber rifles had attacked a cash-carrying vehicle, firing shots before fleeing with an undisclosed sum of money.
The robbery caused several collisions as motorists tried to avoid the gunfire.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the robbery.
