In Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni, tensions have escalated after the community vowed to boycott and shut down all foreign-owned shops following the death of Siphamandla Mphuthi.
The tragic incident occurred when Mphuthi was found dead inside a shop owned by a foreign national.
He had suffered a fatal blow to the head, allegedly struck with a hammer.
According to the shop owner, Mphuthi was caught stealing baby nappies, which led to the confrontation that resulted in his death.
The incident has ignited widespread anger within the community, with residents demanding justice and the immediate closure of foreign-owned businesses in the area.

The community’s frustration is further compounded by a similar incident that took place the previous week, where another local man, was shot dead following a dispute over change.
