MTHATHA – The South African Police Recruitment Department in the OR Tambo District has issued a stern warning to applicants applying for vacancies within the SAPS.
They caution individuals to remain vigilant against a fraudulent scheme perpetrated by a conman promising employment within the organization in exchange for financial compensation.
According to police reports, unsuspecting applicants are being contacted via telephone and coerced into depositing money with the false assurance of securing employment in the SAPS.
“It has come to our attention that applicants are falling prey to deceptive tactics, with promises of SAPS employment in exchange for monetary payments,” stated a spokesperson for the SAPS.
The SAPS emphasizes that at no point during the recruitment process will applicants be solicited for money, regardless of the outcome of their application. Furthermore, the SAPS unequivocally states that it does not subcontract any part of its recruitment processes to external entities.
To safeguard against such scams, applicants are urged to exercise caution and vigilance. They are advised that should they receive any suspicious calls regarding their applications or have any doubts about the legitimacy of any communication, they should personally visit or contact the SAPS Human Resource/Recruitment offices at the PRD Building – 10th Floor.
Applicants must bring along their South African Identity documents for verification purposes.
The SAPS Recruitment Office can be reached at 047 – 5055000. The SAPS will officially communicate any changes to contact numbers.
“The SAPS remains steadfast in its commitment to conducting recruitment processes transparently and professionally,” affirmed the spokesperson. “We rely on the cooperation of all applicants to uphold the integrity of these procedures.”
For any inquiries or concerns, individuals are encouraged to contact the official police recruitment office or visit the nearest police station for assistance.
By staying informed and vigilant, applicants can help thwart attempts to defraud them and ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process within the SAPS.
