Kempton Park Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Killing Girlfriend

At the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court, Musa Nsibande was handed a 12-year prison sentence for the murder of his girlfriend, Hlengiwe Msimango.

The tragic incident, which took place in their shared apartment, has left the community in shock and mourning.

According to court documents, Nsibande claimed that the night of the incident, he was awoken by his girlfriend, who heard suspicious noises at the door.

Reacting to her concerns, Nsibande did not turn on the lights but instead went to investigate. Finding nothing unusual initially, he turned back towards the dining room only to see a shade passing bý.

In a panic, he fired twice, only to discover, after turning on the lights, that he had fatally shot Msimango.

This case has highlights the consequences of firearms in domestic settings and raises questions about the appropriate measures for personal protection.

As Nsibande begins his lengthy sentence, the community is left to ponder the irrevocable loss of life and the circumstances that led to this fateful mistake.
