Riyadh, KZN, a 30-year-old man was brutally murdered by his drinking companion in an informal settlement this Saturday afternoon.
Law enforcement officials and emergency responders were summoned to the scene around 18:16 following distress calls from local residents.
Upon arrival, officers and paramedics were led to the victim’s body, found among the makeshift homes constructed of wood and iron.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, showing no signs of life after a severe assault.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victim had been drinking alcohol with a friend when a heated argument erupted between the two.
The altercation escalated to physical violence, and the suspect left only to return shortly with a panga—a type of machete—using it to lethally attack his companion before fleeing.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the argument and the suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The community has been left shaken by this brutal act of violence that has claimed a life.
