Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal – A tragic incident unfolded in Pietermaritzburg last week when a police officer stationed at Plessislaer Police Station fatally shot his ex-girlfriend, her new partner, and then himself.
The shocking event took place in Pietermaritzburg, leaving the community in a state of shock and mourning.
The police officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly confronted his ex-girlfriend and her new partner before shooting them both. The officer then turned the gun on himself.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) responded quickly to the scene.
“This is a deeply tragic event, and we are working to understand the full circumstances surrounding it,” said Captain Mkhize, spokesperson for SAPS in Pietermaritzburg.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the families affected by this senseless act of violence.”
The local community has been deeply affected by the incident. Neighbors and friends of the victims are struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
“We are heartbroken by what has happened,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.
