The accused in the murder case of AKA and his friend Tibz are:
Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Ndimande (35), Siyanda Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Gwabeni (36), and Lindokuhle Ndimande (29).
Siyabonga Ndimande and Melusi Ndimande from Smolo in Hluhluwe are still in Eswatini, with plans underway for their return.
All are charged with two counts of murder and possession of firearms and ammunition illegally. In their bail application, the state continues to reveal significant details.
Investigator Pillay’s evidence indicates that on the day following the murders of AKA and his friend, Mzi Gwabeni received R803,455 from Gcaba’s company in his bank account.
Phone records suggest that Gwabeni had contacted a number registered to Gcaba.
The investigation found that the company paying Gwabeni, owned by Gcaba, labeled the payment as a “consult.”
This led investigators to suspect that the payment was intended to cover up the hiring of the murderers.
When transferring the money to other suspects, Gwabeni referred to it as “dividends.” Pillay’s investigation concluded that these suspects were not shareholders in Gcaba’s company.
“We believe they refer to the money as dividends to hide its true purpose, which is payment for a service rendered. This is why the state has added a charge of money laundering,” stated investigator Pillay, as read by the prosecutor.
