Folweni, KZN – In a significant operation this Sunday afternoon, SAPS raided the Zwelisha store, a known hub for drug activity, in Isipingo Esincane Southgate, Folweni C Section.
The raid involved multiple SAPS units, including TRT, K9, Mariannhill SAPS, Mbumbulu SAPS, and Folweni SAPS.
Acting on a tip-off, the units converged on the building, but the suspected drug dealers managed to escape through the back, leaving the SAPS empty-handed.
Shootings in Folweni Township: A Community in Crisis
A local resident, who witnessed the raid, shared their frustration:
“We saw a lot of police around the building, but somehow, the dealers got away. It’s like they knew the police were coming.”
According to SAPS, these dealers have been on their radar for quite some time. They are accused of selling dangerous drugs that target the youth in the community.
Despite this setback, SAPS is urging community members to cooperate with them to help combat the drug problem in Folweni.
An SAPS spokesperson stated, “We are committed to fighting this drug epidemic. We need the community’s support to provide information and help us take down these criminals.”

A grieving mother, who lost her son in the shooting, expressed her anguish:
“I lost my beloved son whom I cherished so much. I was hoping for the best from him, that one day he would be a father and have his own family. Our children are dying very young. The question is, whose son is going to die next?”
