Tragic Death of Young Woman in Inanda: Phumelele Nhlangulela Found Dead in Boyfriend’s House
Inanda, KZN – A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Inanda as 31-year-old Phumele Nhlangulela was discovered dead in her boyfriend’s house.
The young woman, a mother of two, was reportedly killed by her boyfriend, Thanduxolo Zondi, who then fled the scene with her phone and belongings. The motive behind the brutal act remains unknown.
Phumelele Nhlangulela and Thanduxolo Zondi both resided in Inanda but rented separate places, Phumelele was from Mpophomeni a town near Pietermaritzburg.
The lifeless body of Nhlangulela was found in Zondi’s rented house in Inanda, eThwalenye. Zondi, who hails from Pietermaritzburg, has a dark history of violence and murder.

It has come to light that Zondi had previously committed heinous crimes against women. In 2022, he murdered a girlfriend in Pietermaritzburg, leaving the body undiscovered for five days.
In 2023, he struck again, killing another girlfriend in Umlazi. Authorities have been on the lookout for Zondi, who managed to remain at large until this recent tragedy.
Additionally, he is wanted for arson, having burned down a house in Pietermaritzburg.
Phumele Nhlangulela leaves behind two children, aged 13 and 10, who now face a future without their mother. She did not have any children with Zondi.
The community is reeling from the shock of this brutal act, and authorities are urging anyone with information on Zondi’s whereabouts to come forward.
