Cape Town, June 19, 2024 – A breakthrough has been made in the case of a double murder captured on a bakery delivery truck’s dashcam in Delft, Cape Town, last month.
The suspect, a 38-year-old man, has been apprehended by the diligent efforts of the investigating team.
Police spokesperson Lt-Col Malcolm Pojie revealed on Tuesday that the suspect was traced to the Delft Day Hospital on Sunday.

The suspect was receiving treatment after a scuffle with community members who accused him of robbery.
“The investigating team visited the hospital, recognised the suspect, and placed him under arrest. He provided a false name and details to the hospital administrators,” Pojie said.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to face charges of murder, attempted murder, and aggravated robbery.
This development comes after the suspect had been identified early in the investigation but managed to evade arrest until this weekend.

The tragic incident occurred on May 16 on Symphony Way, Delft, where the suspect and his accomplices robbed a bread delivery truck. During the robbery, the two staff members in the vehicle were fatally wounded.
While the primary suspect is now in custody, the police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining accomplices involved in the heinous crime.
This arrest marks a crucial step towards justice for the victims and their families, and the community remains hopeful for the swift capture of the other culprits.
