Properties damaged by a tornado that swept through Tongaat, KZN, on Monday are now being targeted by thieves.
Residents of Sandfields and Fairbreeze in Tongaat, KZN, have reported to authorities that drug addicts are entering homes damaged by the tornado and stealing anything of value.
An elderly female, currently attempting to restore her home in Sandfields, KZN, informed authorities that her grandsons are sleeping outdoors at night to protect household items they salvaged from their extensively damaged home.

Areas affected by the tornado are experiencing power outages.
Thieves are taking advantage of the darkness at night to gain entry to homes and strip them of their valuables.
Several homes were left vacant after families were forced to relocate.
