According to the motorist, they were using a navigation application when the officers approached and intended to issue a fine for the alleged traffic violation.

The motorist requested permission to record the interaction, which was initially granted by the officers. However, the situation quickly escalated.

“The police officer grabbed my phone and wrestled me onto the road with traffic, injuring my hand in the process,” the motorist reported.

A second video of the incident recovered later, showed the officer holding the phone and demanding that the videos be deleted.

Despite the threats of arrest for ‘reckless driving’ due to cellphone usage, no fine was ultimately issued. The motorist claims they were using a map application and not engaging in any other phone activities that would have warranted such aggressive enforcement.

This incident raises significant concerns about the conduct of traffic officers and the appropriate use of force. It also highlights the ongoing debate over the rights of motorists to document their interactions with law enforcement officials.
